Regulation or no regulation, you decide

The libertarians and erzatz capitalists won't publish this sort of headline but it's the truth:
"Millions saved in Japan by good engineering and government building codes."
Friday's quake was the fifth-largest recorded since 1900 and the biggest to hit Japan in three centuries. The earthquake was 900 times bigger than the one that struck Haiti in 2010 where there was a confirmed death toll of 230,000.  Three days after the Japanese disaster, the known death toll in Japan is around 10,000 but could go higher.

  1. They were prepared for an earthquake, it was the tsunami that did the most damage.
